BREAST – FEEDING


1.Give mother’s milk to every baby immediately  after birth.
2.Every mother should get 6 months leave for child birth and breastfeeding.
3.Sunlight is a good sourceof VitaminD whichhelps in building immune system.Hence, exposure to sunlight for a good amount of time is recommended.
4.On 10th day of life,baby’s weight must be nearly same as birth weight.If it is very less than that,baby may not be getting  enough milk.It is an emergency.Meet doctor and discuss.
5.“Breastfeeding is not a choiceit’s a responsibility”.
6.Breast feeding is helpful in preventing various illnesses like diarrhea,malnutrition, anemia,pneumonia,dentalcaries.In the long term,breast fed babies have less chances  of developing allergies,obesity and have  more IQ.
7.Breast feeding shouldbe started within 1 hour of birth.Milk in initial 3days is very beneficial and also works as immunization,as it ishigh in immunoglobulin content.
8.No pre lacteal/paralacteal feeds,no water for initial 6 months.No bottle/ nopacifiers.
